In order to become Punjab a sports hub again, The Cabinet Sub-committee headed by Education Minister Om Parkash Soni was held its meeting at Punjab Bhawan here today. This meeting was attended by Sports Minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi and Power Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar.During the meeting the issue of backlog of sports quota posts in the education department was raised on which Education Minister Mr. Soni said that the department will fill the backlog of 3% posts of sports quota soon. If there is no sports background teacher available at any place, then candidates belonging to Physical Education subject will be recruited. In another important decision was also taken during the meeting that it would be possible for the local people to use the school grounds after school hours.Mr. Soni said that the playgrounds are free after school timing; they will now be allowed to use it for the common people. This is an important step towards the Mission Tandarust Punjab. There were also many other important issues discussed during the meeting. Sub-committee has also given its consent to promote the sporting culture in the state.Prominent amongst others who were present in the meeting included Mr. Sanjay Kumar Principal Secretary Sports, Mr. V.K. Janjua Principal Secretary Welfare of Freedom Fighters Department, Mr. Krishan Kumar Education Secretary and Amrit Kaur Gill Director Sports were present.
