Development Commissioner of Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad today reviewed the pace of work on Government Medical College campus and associated projects here at a meeting of college management and representatives of executing agency.The meeting was attended by Principal Medical college/dean/Nodal Officer for execution of Project Dr. Zahid Gilani, S E PWD Majid Khan, CPO A H Choudhary, ExEn PWD Mushtaq Raina, CMO Dr Suresh Gupta and Superintendent DH Rajouri Dr Mehmood Bajjar.The Rs 139 Crore project comprising Rs 69 Cr Academic block, Rs 40 Cr Residential block for doctors, paramedics and students and Rs 30 Cr for upgradation of District Hospital into teaching hospital, will have an intake capacity of 100 medical students.A detailed presentation was made about the execution of work, safety and other specifications of the buildings besides physical and financial achievements. It was informed that 97% of RCC, retaining walls and foundation works have been completed and 45% of platform cutting work has been executed.
The DDC directed the concerned to speed up the work to complete the project within set deadline to avoid cost overrun. He directed for use of high quality blocks in construction work keeping in view the climatic conditions of the area. It was decided that an auditorium shall also be constructed in the GMC.The meeting also discussed plan for upgradation of District Hospital Rajouri to Teaching Hospital with addition of 100 bedded block to increase its capacity to 300 beds as per MCI guidelines in the first phase. The directions were issued for creating infrastructure of 2 Lecture halls, 1 hall each for dissection and library at the earliest. It was informed that this much infrastructure is bare minimum to start classes.The DDC also reviewed preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) prepared for additional block at DH Rajouri. He directed the concerned to restrict it within Rs 30 Cr as decided by administrative department by considering the optimal utilisation of already existing space in the district hospital in light of the original DPR.
