Mohali Industries Association & Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar held a Tree Plantation Drive in Industrial Area Mohali on 6th August, 2018.Balbir Singh Sidhu- Hon’ble Minister for Labour, Dairy Development & Animal Husbandry, Government of Punjab was the Chief Guest on this occasion. The local administration was represented by Jagjit Singh- SP City -1 Mohali. Bhupinder Pal Singh- Commissioner-Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar made a brief visit to the Association.Mukesh Garg –Chief Engineer-Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar was present in the meeting.Yogesh Sagar-President informed that it is very important to preserve the environment. Industry encourages the plantation of indigenous trees and plants that are advantageous to the local ecosystem. If we don’t plant trees it is estimated that the temperature in the plains will rise upto 60 degrees. Rajeev Gupta- General Secretary informed that the Association commits to distribute 2000 saplings to its members.Anurag Aggarwal – Past President initiated an Oath which was taken by all members present for planting trees and for maintaining the green belts to preserve our environment.
Cabinet Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu informed that an amount of Rs.207.76 lakh has been sanctioned for the upkeep, maintenance and development work of Industrial Area Mohali. The Hon’ble Minister also appreciated the initiative taken by MIA to maintain the park located at F-31-34 Industrial Area Phase VIII, Mohali which has been handed over to MIA by Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar. Shri Sidhu appreciated the efforts made by the Industry to maintain the eco-system in Industrial Area Mohali. Shri Sidhu also shared information that the water level in Punjab even during rainy season is below the required level and it is all due to lack of planting adequate number of trees.Shri Sidhu also planted trees to commemorate the occasion.The Hon’ble Minister also made a surprise visit to the ESI Dispensary Industrial Area Phase VII, Mohali and found some discrepancies in the hospital. Shri Sanjeev Vashisht- Immediate Past President informed that there is lack of facilities in the hospital.
