Stagnating rain water in low lying areas of the city will soon become a thing of past as Municipal Council Mansa has taken strong measures to find a permanent solution to drain out rain water. This is being done following orders by Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait after the 21 July heavy rain which had flooded the low lying areas of the city.City residents had been demanding a permanent solution to this problem for the past long time.Divulging more details about this permanent solution, EO (Executive Officer) Ramesh Kumar said that MC has installed 4 permanent motors and 2 more trolley-motors would be installed soon to drain out rain water in low lying areas."A nullah across the railway line too has been cleaned and 8 recharge borewell will be installed soon under this project," he said.He pointed out that though the rainwater on July 21 was dried up within a record time using the pumping out motors but even then a permanent solution was a long pending demand of the public.

"A permanent motor has been installed near Kali Mata Mandir. Besides a small 5 horsepower motor at the under-bridge another motor--of 15 horsepower--has also been installed for swift drying up of rainwater," Ramesh said. He added that a separate room has also been constructed near the under-bridge to accommodate the 15 hourse-power motor.Another motor--which can be used anytime--has been installed adjoining the under-bridge towards the bus stand side to drain out rainwater and sewerage water.EO said that the work of cleaning the nullah adjoining the One-Way-Traffic road has been cleaned and apart from this the nullah across the railway line situated on Cinema road too has been cleaned up for smooth passage of every kind of water. Two trolley motors of 20 horse power too are being installed soon to drain out sewerage water from different parts of the city. He also revealed that recharge borewell, with an expenditure of Rs 16 lakhs, would be setup at 8 different low lying places in the city which would not only recharge the groundwater but would also help in draining out stagnating rainwater.
