CEO Punjab Dr. Karuna Raju today appealed to the reputed NGOs working in Punjab in the field of Youth Empowerment, Community Empowerment issues, Empowerment of Persons with disabilities, People with different sexual orientations including transgenders, NGOs working in the field electoral reforms, transparency in administration, and health and de addiction issues.In a statement issued CEO Punjab Dr. S.Karuna Raju said that NGO's with non-partisan reputation, selfless & fearless service have been playing a very important role in strengthening the Indian Democracy. The CEO office always values and acknowledges the role played by such institutions. He also said that complaints about use of unfair means in elections by way of offering intoxicants such as liquor, use of money and muscle power are not uncommon. These allurements surely vitiate sanctity of the democratic process and the importance of the results of elections thereof.Under the supervision of Election Commission of India, CEO Office Punjab has taken many steps to curb such unfair practices. In this direction, he said that NGO's, Civil Society organisations, community organisations with neutral image, known for their selfless and fearless image can be good partners in achieving the object of bringing awareness about the ill effects of the allurements on elections. CEO Punjab Dr Karuna Raju invited all such NGO's, Civil Society Organisations and Community based Organisations to play greater role and become partners with CEO Office Punjab.
CEO Dr. Raju said that these organisations can play a greater role to bringing in greater confidence to the people in the fairness of the electoral process.CEO Punjab Dr. Raju stated that NGO's, Civil Society Organisations and Community Organisations who are working at village level; block level, district level and state level are welcome to be partners in the electoral process particularly in creation of required awareness among the eligible youth to become voters and to create awareness among the future voters particularly more so with +2 level students.To make elections more inclusive, NGO's, Civil Society Organisations and Community Organisations who are working in the field of welfare and empowerment of persons with disability including blindness, Impaired hearing, deaf, hard of hearing, Persons with locomotive disabilities and persons with multiple disabilities can play tremendous positive role by being partners with poll panel in registering each and every eligible voter of such Persons with Disabilities during pre-election time.Registration of NRIs voters, transgender Voters also offer un explored but good space for NGO's to collaborate and partner with the CEO Punjab.CEO Dr. Raju said that willing registered NGO's, Civil Society Organisations and Community Based Organisations as per the norms with good social reputation of neutrality; non-political nature and transparent working are welcome to get themselves associated with the CEO Office.Any allegations on the neutrality and functioning of NGO's, Civil Society Organisations and Community Organisations will make them strictly ineligible to be associated with.
