Governor hoists Tricolour on occasion of Himachal Day

Governor, Urmila Singh today hoisted the Tricolour on the historic Ridge of Shimla on the occasion of 67th Himachal Day celebrations and took salute from an impressive march-past by contingents of Police, Home guards, NCC and NSS cadets on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, she said that we were indebted to those who contributed and played an important role in formation and development of the State.She said that since its inception, Himachal Pradesh had made rapid progress in all sectors and today after 66 years it stands as a role model of development for other hill states, the credit of which goes to the people of the state, who contributed significantly for uplift of the state.She said that a lot more was to be done and pace of progress to be maintained in times to come.

The Governor congratulated the people of the State on the occasion and wished them a prosperous life.The HP Police women bikers were applauded because of their exemplary aerobatics they performed. Besides dazzling dog show by HP police and a colourful cultural programme was also performed on the occasion accompanied by other attractions.Mayor, Sh Sanjay Chauhan, Deputy Mayor, Sh. Tikendar Panwar, Acting Chief Secretary, Sh. P. Mitra, DGP Sh Sanjay Kumar, ADGP, Shri S.R.Mardi, Secretary GAD, Shri R.D Nazeem, Deputy Commissioner, Shri Dinesh Malhotra, SP, Shri Abhishek Dhullar, Vice Chancellor, A.D.N Vajpayee and senior officers of the state government were also present on the occasion amongst other dignitaries.Functions were also organized at district level in the State to mark the occasion. Unfurling of National Flag, march past and cultural programmes were main attractions of the celebrations.
