A delegation of Panchayat Pradhans from Pachhad Assembly constituency of Sirmaur district met Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Virender Kanwar here today and demanded that while constituting technical wing of the department, it should be ensured that small works are executed through Panchayats and tenders are invited only four big developmental works. They also demanded to appoint Technical Assistant in each Panchayat and ensuring proper supply of cement.The Minister said that the department for the first time organised a workshop for technical officer and officials at Una in which detailed discussions were held on all technical aspects. It has been decided to constitute technical wing of the department besides constituting a state level technical designing and quality control institute. He said that the suggestions of the Pradhans would be kept in mind while forming the technical wing of the department. Virender Kanwar said that the state government has already given a grant of Rs. 50 crore for ensuring proper supply of cement. Moreover, the state government has also appointed an officer at state level for monitoring supply of cement to the panchayats.He directed the Panchayati Raj Department to work on war footings for repair and maintenance of drinking and irrigation schemes in the rural areas by utilizing the funds of MNREGA and 14th Finance Commission.
