DDC Pulwama reviews progress under NSM

District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar today convened a meeting to review progress under National Saffron Mission.The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, Chief Agriculture Officer, SE Mechanical and other concerned officials.It was given out that National Mission on Saffron has been sanctioned by the Centre at a total cost of Rs 372.18 crore. The Mission aimed at Economic Revival of Saffron Sector in the State is proposed to be completed within a period of 7 years; while as 86 percent of the total funding is being spent in district Pulwama on rejuvenation, strength of irrigation system, enhancing product quality, mechanization, providing infrastructure facility, establishment of quality testing and market facilities.While reviewing the Mission’s progress, the DDC was informed that out of total 109 targeted tube wells,100 tube wells have been constructed and 86 tube wells have been handed over to agriculture department. The meeting discussed maintenance, repairing and handing over of tube wells as per the guidelines of the scheme in detail.Showing displeasure over the poor performance by the executing agencies DDC directed the Mechanical Engineering department to speed up the remaining work on all ongoing sprinkler irrigation borewells carried out under the mission at the earliest so that its benefits reach to intended target.The DDC Pulwama who is also chairman of NSM assured the meeting that no stone will be left unturned to speed up the pace of work on all developmental works carried out under the Mission.
