Congress MLA from Amloh Randeep Singh who was in town to inaugurate Om Industries "a unit of Nada Parandi" said that state is committed to root out drug menace with the help of its vigilant citizens. He said committees of influential men, women and youth are being constituted for the purpose. These committees will not only keep a check on the people involved in the drug trade but will also help addicted persons to overcome their drug habits.Mr Randeep Singh said the Heath department and administration is also taking all necessary steps to stop drug practices by youth in Punjab. Creation of Jobs and Promotion of sports activities are the key area which can also play a role in eradicating this menace.Randeep said that problem is deep rooted and will take time and sustained efforts are required. Addicts are our own people and need to be treated with love, patience and care. Replying to a question of providing alternate to Chhita and other synthetic drugs he said that he did not support the idea. Keeping youth busy, giving them healthy and positive environment, creating ample of jobs was necessary according to him.Replying another question he said Punjab Government is committed to fulfill all of the promises made in menifesto. Law and order is improving, Government had given strict instructions to deal goonda persons with iron hand.He played down the so called infight of Punjab Police by terming it a minor issue.
