Senior Congress leader and Minister for Health, Choudhary Taj Mohi ud Din today appealed Congress workers in particular and people in general to stand up to this historic occasion and reject pisive and communal politics practiced by certain groups in the State and country which he said is to the detriment of peace and development.Addressing a series of public meetings at Panthachowk area today, Taj asked Congress workers to work tirelessly for the success of party and coalition candidates in the elections. He said the Congress and UPA stand for inclusive growth, prosperity and development where as the opposition to it reflects pisive elements, vested interest groups who are hell bent on creating pision among people in the name of catchy slogans and ideas.Without naming BJP, Taj said their aim is just to hoodwink the gullible and innocent people and not to make any positive contribution to people’s lives. “They have nothing to offer you except impede the growth of the state and country which has undergone a turnaround after the hard efforts of the present Government”, he said.
Taj said the present Government is working hard to ameliorate the living standards of people particularly those living below poverty line, in far flung areas and those belonging to weaker sections of society. He said many schemes and programmes are in vogue for the purpose. The Minister said many path breaking steps were taken during the last five years of present Government. He said in sectors like education, health, social welfare etc. J&K has seen phenomenal growth and progress. District President, Srinagar, Abdul Ghani Khan and Congress activist Kadfeen Choudhary also spoke on the occasion.
