Shiromani Akali Dal extends its support to PDP

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Kashmir,  Saturday extended its support to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).The members of the Akali Dal-led by its president  Janak Singh Sodhi who is also president of the Shiromani Guduwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) Baramulla were welcomed by the PDP patron Mufti Mohamamd Sayeed at a function held here.Welcoming the support of Shiromani Akali Dal, Mufti said the PDP would always safeguard the interests of the minorities and work for their dignified and prosperous life. He said the party would identify areas of special interest for the Sikh community and work on protecting its identity.

Mufti said during its brief tenure the PDP had given proper political representation to the community by sending one of its members to the Rajya Sabha and inducted another into the council of ministers. By contrast he said the NC which had exploited all communities of the state restricted itself to raising slogans and arranging photo opportunities and did nothing for their welfare.Speaking on the occasion Sardar Janak Singh Sodhi, who had been associated with NC for a long time, said the community was thoroughly disillusioned with the NC. He said the Akali Dal was inspired by the honest and sincere leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and the agenda for peace and development that this party has presented.

On this occasion party’s candidate for Srinagar parliamentary constituency Tariq Hameed Karra; Chief Spokesperson Naeem Akhtar MLC; Mushtaq Ahmad Shah MLA Tral: Dr Shanti Singh youth leader; Shriomani Akali Dal leaders S.Mohan Singh Shant; S. davinder Singh ( Sarpanch NC); S. Shiv Dev Singh; S. Jaipal Singh; S. Karanjeet Singh; Dr S. Harbajan Singh; S. Gurupurab Singh; S. Kuldeep Singh; S. Avtar Singh; S. Jaswant Singh; PDP leaders Nanee Singh, Moti Singh and Charan Singh were also present.
