Expressing satisfaction over the pace of work and swiftness shown by MC and Sewerage Board officials to drain out rain water in low lying areas of the city on Saturday night, Mansa DC Apneet Riyait today stressed upon the need of a permanent solution to the problem.Heavy rainfall had inundated the low lying areas of the city including Barahatta Chowk, Gaushala Road, some streets on Court Road and the underbridge last evening. Timely intervention and constant monitoring by the DC however proved instrumental in draining the water out within few hours.“It’s all because of the public support and hard work of the government servants-who worked till midnight and again resume this task of draining out water today morning-that the low lying submerged areas were dried up quickly”, Apneet Riyat said.
She said that now it’s high time to work out for a survey of all the low lying areas after which funds would be sought to bring respite to these areas.“It may take some time but we will have to initiate an action plan so that the rain water can be removed more easily and effectively in low lying localities”, she further said.Apneet pointed out that the work force and all the officials of the MC and Sewerege Board are put on duty till the weather clears completely. The newly appointed Deputy Commissioner seeking public support during rains said that the doors of district administration are always open to work together in larger public interest.
