As a part of the celebration of ‘Van Mahotsava’, Social Forestry Division, Udhampur in collaboration with Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, (JNV) organized a mega plantation drive in the premises of School Campus here on Saturday.District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion.Around 2000 plants of different species were planted in the JNV campus during the plantation drive.While speaking on the occasion, the DDC appreciated the efforts of department of Social Forestry for organizing plantation drive in a large scale. Stressing on maintaining ecosystem, the DDC called upon the students to come forward to spread the message of protection of green cover and encourage more population to actively participate in plantation for human prosperity.Similar program was organized at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Akhnoor where SFS DFO, Social Forestry Department, Jammu, Neha Mehta was the Chief Guest. Elaborating the importance of plants, she gave a brief account of activities being carried out during the ongoing Van Mahotsava in the district.The dignitaries along-with staff members and students participated in the plantation drive.
