District Development Commissioner Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar today convened a meeting to review implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and progress on newly-launched Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Scheme.The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Medical Officer, Principals of the Degree Colleges and other concerned.The meeting was informed that activities under the the Summer Internship Programme have been categorized into three clusters like Information-Education-Communication activities including Awareness Campaigns, NukkadNataks, Street Plays, Swachhata-related Folk Songs, Dance performances, Swachhata Melas, conducting Village or School-level Rallies, Wall Paintings on public walls and government buildings (Panchayat Ghar), and organizing movie screenings under SBM-Gramin.Other activities include solid waste management related activities which include waste collection drives (households/ common or shared spaces), segregation of solid waste into non-biodegradable and biodegradable waste development of compost pits, transportation of household waste (to appropriate disposal site)Moreover, help panchayats draw up plans for the installation of biogas plants wherever possible/required street cleaning, drain cleaning, cleaning of back alleys and support in toilet construction are part of the programme.
