The Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) LAHDC Kargil, Vikas Kundal convened a meeting with the officers of district administration and representatives from Buddhist Association Zanskar and Buddhist Association Melbekh to discuss and review the arrangements made by the district administration and the concerned Associations for ensuing tour of Dalai Lama to Kargil district here today.The Chief Medical Officer Kargil was asked to establish medical camps at all venues besides keeping the availability of medicines and other medicare facilities in sufficient quantity.Taking stock of the availability of essential commodities, the DC directed the authorities of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department to provide ration to the consumers of Mulbekh and Zanskar area in advance for the month of July, 2018.Meanwhile, the Assistant Director Information Kargil was directed to ensure Public Address System (PAS) at all venues like Zanskar, Mulbekh and at Hussaini Park Kargil were His Holiness Dalai Lama address the public.The DC directed the Transport Department to arrange required numbers of JK SRTC buses to ensure hassle free transportation facilities for the visitors.The representatives of Zanskar Buddhist and Mulbekh Buddhist Associations have put forth various demands during the meeting including construction of main gate at L/R Phothang Gonpa Zanskar, two underground local type toilets, footpath, waiting room, park and leveling of ground at Phothang Gonpa, installation of solar streetlight system and PAS both at Zanaskar and Mulbekh.The Deputy Commissioner gave them patient hearing and directed the concerned to resolve the urgent public interest issues including minor works like construction of footpath on priority. He also asked the concerned to prepare plans of other genuine issues apprised by the Zanskar Buddhist Association and submit the same to the concerned quarter for accord of necessary sanction and arrangement of funds.Taking stock of functioning of streetlights at Phothang Gonpa Zanskar, Vikas Kundal directed the Municipal Corporation to repair the existing streetlights immediately and also asked them to install required new streetlights at the venue before His Holiness Dalai Lama’s visit to Zanskar.The DC asked the Zanskar Buddhist Association to come up with the representation regarding covering of Zanskar Town under the ambit of Municipal Limits so that the same could be considered which will help in speedy development of the town.The DC asked the PDD authorities to ensure power supply to Zanskar Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC). He also asked the Kargil Tourism Development Authority to speed up the pace of electrification works of TFC and complete the same within a stipulated time frame.Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements made by the administration, the DC asked all the line departments to work with utmost dedication and in tandem and make ensure the His Holiness Dalai Lama’s visit successful.Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Imtiyaz Kachoo SSP Kargil, Tsering Gyalpo, S E Public Works Department, Kargil, Chief Planning Officer, other senior officers and engineers of PHE, PDD, Kargil Tourism Development Authority and representatives from Zanaskar Buddhist Association and Mublekh Buddhist Association attended the meeting.
