In order to check the spread of vector-borne diseases in Ludhiana, the health department carried out a massive drive for checking the desert coolers and other containers in the buildings of Punjab Mandi Board, grain market, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), Model Town and different places of the district under mission Tandrust Punjab.District Epidemiologist Dr. Ramesh Kumar said that the teams conducted the drive in the buildings of Punjab Mandi Board, grain market, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), Model Town and adjoining areas of the district.Kumar told that the desert coolers and other containers were also immediately drained out.He said that total 18 teams were on the field during the checking drive and found the larvae at the seven places.Kumar added that the members of anti-larva teams sprayed on the stagnant water wherever they found for mosquitoes these sites are potential breeding sites.Further, he told that teams also made the people aware not to let the water accumulate in their areas and clear out immediately. The pamphlets and posters were also distributed among the people.He added that such inspection is being carried out under mission Tandarust Punjab to ensure that vector-borne diseases are checked well in advance.Dr. Ramesh Kumar claimed that the health department is committed for tackling this menace to ensure good health of the residents.
