Digital mapping of land is the new mantra. To start with the Revenue Department has launched a 'Digital Mapping' project to demarcate land boundaries in two villages of SAS Nagar (Mohali). This project will help the land owners to find their lands easily.Punjab Revenue Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria said that besides digital mapping, the department is also planning to install pillars to demarcate land boundaries in the state.He further said the senior officers had been asked to review all aspects of the pillar installation project. The project will help to resolve the disputes between land-owners regarding the demarcation of boundaries on the land.Earlier, the work of demarcation of land boundaries and installation of boundary pillars had been done by the Partap Singh Kairon-led Punjab government. But today those pillars are lying in a dilapidated condition.Now, the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh-led government has taken up the project to install boundary pillars. Notably, Panchayats would bear the cost of installation of the boundary pillars.A spokesman of Revenue Department said: “A pilot project of "Digital Mapping" of land demarcation has been initiated in two villages -- Mundi Kharar and Harlalpur -- of SAS Nagar. The Digital Map shows very clearly the Mustil Line, Killa Line, Mustil Number, Killa Number, Reference Line, Saheda and Pillars.The digital map has been generated with the collaboration of Satellite and Demarcation map. Now, any person can easily get information about his/her land.
