The National Statistics Day was today observed in district Kargil at NIC Conference Hall under Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner and CEO Kargil, Vikas Kundal.The Day is marked as the birth anniversary of India's eminent statistician Late Mahalanobis.Deputy Commissioner in his address urged the departments to cooperate with the DSEO in providing timely statistical data and information to enrich the annual publication and other daily routine works. He also instructed the concerned for weekly price data of essential accommodations.Later, Deputy Commissioner released annual publication "District Statistical Hand Book" among the participants.While giving the Statistical data of Kargil district, it was apprised that the geographical area of the district is 14036 Sq kms with 5 Sub Divisions, 8 Tehsils, 20 Blocks while as 95 Panchayats. It was also given out that there are 129 villages, 127 inhabited villages with 1,40,802 population in the district.The meeting was told that in the district there is one District Hospital, 26 CHC and PHC, 123 Sub Centres, 218 Primary Schools, 273 Middle Schools, 66 High and Higher Secondary Schools with 71.34 literacy percentage in the district.Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil Imtayaz Kacho and Heads of the various Departments including Chief Medical Officer, CEO, Chief Horticulture Officer and other concerned attended the meeting.
