Bringing laurels to the state, eight private schools of Kashmir have bagged National Award of Excellence for Education Transformation at 3rd National Council Meet of Private Schools Association & Children’s Welfare Association (PSACWA) held in Kolkatta. The awards were presented by H.E. Governor of Meghalaya Mr. Ganga Prasad and Minister of Education West Bengal Mr. Ghulam Rabbani to the heads of the private schools at an impressive function held at Novotel Hotel Kolkata from 22nd-24th June. The distinguished schools which received awards for their immense contribution to education sector  included Green Valley Educational Institute, SRM Welkin,  Sanctorum School, Dolphin International, NIPS, Solace International, FEI and Alexandra Secondary School The function was attend by 165 delegates from 29 states and two representative from Singapore and China. While addressing the huge gathering G N Var, president PSAJK said that the private schools in Jammu and Kashmir have worked day in and day out to provide best possible education to students that too under unfavourable conditions.“Education has undergone huge change all over in India and we in Jammu and Kashmir have tried to remain abreast to these developments.

But now we feel all good work is being undone by bringing new education policy without weighing its pros and cons,” said Var. “Particularly the change of syllabus is becoming a huge challenge for us. There seem to be hidden hand at distorting history and other subject in favour of a particular ideology and if that happens, it will destroy the entire education sector and push us towards darker times.” Var said that the education should be more focussed on character building which will ultimately give birth to strong society. “Education shouldn't be limited to a certain geography and state. It should encompass all good things coming from any place,” said Var.He also congratulated the eight schools of Kashmir for bringing laurels to the state by bagging the prestigious awards. “It confirms to our high standards and commitment with which we are bringing world class education to Kashmir,” said Var further adding that every private school will work hard in employing best available practices aimed at giving child-centric education. He said that if the trend continues more schools from Kashmir will bag such awards in coming years.
