Determined to provide clean air, water and environment to the people under Mission Tandrust Punjab, Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has taken many initiatives. Apart from forming Swachta Clubs, appointing brand ambassadors for creating awareness among the city residents, civic body has also come forwarded to provide public toilets to the people.MC joint commissioner Satwant Singh said that MC has formed 200 Swachta clubs and 120 self help groups and their members are helping the civic body in making the city open defecation free (ODF). Further, Civic body has also appointed 21 prominent persons as brand ambassadors, he added.Singh further revealed that MC has also aimed to make the city's 95 wards ODF soon. 70 wards have already been declared ODF and remaining 25 will be declared soon. He said that MC has already floated the tenders of 200 portable toilets which will be installed at several places. He finformed that toilets of 58 fuel stations in the city, have also been declared public toilets.He asserted that 12 government departments are working collectively round the clock to achieve the goals of mission Tandrust Punjab by running mass awareness drives among the people in the state and making Punjab healthiest state in the country in which He solicited fulsome support and maximum participation of the people in the program to make the campaign huge success.
