Governor inaugurates second phase of 'Manav Mandir'

Governor Acharya Devavrat urged the people to serve the suffering humanity and exhorted them to participate in such activities which help in lessening misery of the people. He was speaking at a function organized by Indian Association of Muscular Dystrophy (IAMD), Solan at Kothon village in district Solan today.The Governor also inaugurated second phase of 'Manav Mandir', rehabilitation center for people suffering from muscular dystrophy.Acharya Devvrat on the occasion said that people who were working for humanity were the real heroes and their service to the mankind was inspiration for others also. He said that charity given for such noble causes was always appreciable. Though, there were many prosperous people but it was a pity that they were living for themselves and there were many instances where such people had sent their parents to old age homes, he added. Such people were wasting their life and money. He said that it was the moral duty of everyone to help the people in distress and serving the people was serving the God."Social work is the real service to the mankind and the Almighty showers its blessings on such people who are engaged in such activities", said the Governor. 

He appreciated the efforts of patron of IAMD, Smt. Uma Baldi in establishing this center at Solan for the people suffering from muscular dystrophy. He said that she was the inspiration for all. He appealed to the people to come forward for such a noble cause and make liberal contribution for this centre.The Governor  said that the Integrated Muscular Dystrophy Rehabilitation Centre was providing relief and rehabilitation to the people afflicted with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) in the State and said that the Centre was the first institute in the Country to organize medical and awareness camps, providing physiotherapy & counseling and was also a residential physiotherapy center where proper care management, direct financial help, wheel chair support, volunteers, dissemination of information, day care center and diagnostic and testing facility were available under one roof. He urged the people to promote zero budget natural farming for healthy life. He exhorted people to associate with other social awareness campaigns like cleanliness and water conservation.The Governor also announced Rs. two lakh for IAMD Center to promote various activities.He also honoured those who contributed in establishing Manav Mandir. 

Prof. Virender Kashyap MP on the occasion welcomed the Governor and appreciated the efforts of IAMD in establishing this center to facilitate the people suffering with muscular dystrophy.  To overcome this disease, patients need strong will power and this center helps in developing inner strength through various therapies. He also appreciated individuals and groups for their contribution in establishing infrastructure for this center.He said that Government of India had started various programmes and schemes for the welfare of persons with disabilities and the central Government had added muscular dystrophy in the list of disabilities so that they could also be benefitted. He thanked the Governor for promoting zero budget natural farming in the state.Ms. Sanjana Goel, President, IAMD welcomed the Governor on the occasion and detailed about the disease and programmes being executed by the Association. She said that the Association was working for the last 26 years and all care, supervision and management was being provided through experts. She said that regular camps were being organized through the center and about 200 therapies were performed within a year by the center. She said that the infrastructure for this center was being developed with partial funding from ONGC, SJVNL and Sai Engineering Foundation. She thanked them for support continous motivation.

Shri Nand Lal Sharma, Chief General Manager, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. also spoke on the occasion.On the occasion, parents of children suffering from muscular dystrophy also shared their experiences. They thanked the IAMD Solan for providing therapy to the patients and motivating them to lead a near normal life.Smt. Uma Baldi, Patron, IAMD, Solan proposed vote of thanks and hoped that with continuous support and patronage from all, IAMD center would achieve its full potential and will become a harbinger of hope for muscular dystrophy patients. She said that at present IAMD was running centers at Chandigarh, Delhi and Solan and urged the people to donate generously for IAMD so that more and more patients could be benefitted. She thanked everyone for making Solan IAMD centre a success.Patients suffering from muscular dystrophy also performed on the occasion.Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, local MLA, Shri Ganesh Dutt, Director, SJVNL, Shri Purshotam Guleria, Vice Chairman, State Khadi Board, Shri Devender Thakur, Chairman, Nagar Parishad, Solan, Dr. Shashikant Sharma, Advisor to the Governor, Prof. Ashok Sharma, Director, Medical Education, Shri Vinod Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Solan, Shri Madhusudan Sharma, SP, officers of state Government and SJVNL, Banks, educational institutions and other prominent people and patients were also present on the occasion.
