Governor Acharya Devvrat here today honoured Smt. Jaswir Kaur for her contribution in ensuring smooth water supply in Shimla and setting an example of women power and presented a memento to her at Raj Bhawan Shimla. Jaswir Kaur belonged to Sangrur in Punjab and played an important role as driver of water tank providing supply in the Shimla.In the view of water scarcity and appeal by Governor, Sai Engineering foundation with the support of Maha Panchayat Haryana has played an important role in ensuring smooth water supply in the city. Foundation has provided approximately 27 water tanks to lift water from Satluj to Gumma water storage tank free of cost. The people were provided with approximately 10 lakh litre water per day.Almost 18 kilometres distance was covered from Satluj to fill up the water storage tank at Gumma by each tanker. Jaswir Kaur has played an important role in this cause of providing water to people through 27 water tanks by Sai Engineering foundation.Governor while appreciating Jaswir Kaur's efforts said that she has not only driven the water tank in difficult geographical conditions and hilly roads of the State but has also set an example in society by contributing in the noble cause of providing water. She has become an ideal for others.With the inspiration of Governor, Convenor Maha Panchayat Haryana Sampuran Singh has decided to adopt son of Smt. Jaswir Kaur and Maha Panchayat Haryana will provide for the expenses on his studies.Governor also honoured Shri Lakkha Singh husband of Smt. Jaswir Kaur on the occasion.
