Additional Developmental Commissioner (ADC), Shopian Parvaiz Sajad Ganaie today convened a meeting of officers to review and finalize the arrangements for Shab –e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr.Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Medical Officer, Engineers from PHE, PDD, R&B, Assistant Director FCS&CA and other concerned officers and officials.The ADC directed the concerned to intensify market checking to keep a check on profiteering, hoarding and overcharging by shopkeepers across the district. He directed FCS&CA to ensure strict implementation of government approved rate list besides the hassle-free home delivery of gas supply to the consumers. ADC said that erring vendors, shopkeepers and traders should be booked for violating the rate list. He directed concerned to ensure availability of essential commodities in the market including vegetables and poultry besides timely supply of Gas, Kerosene, Flour and Sugar from the government depots to the consumers.With regard to healthcare, the meeting was informed by the CMO that proactive steps have been taken and adequate staff and ambulances shall be available at various health centres across the district.
The meeting was also informed that Animal Husbandry shall keep sufficient birds available across the district for sale at different centres including mobile sale centres across the district at 10 % rebate on market rates. Similarly, the Fisheries Department was asked to make available carp and trout for sale at prominent public places across the district.Stressing on the uninterrupted power and water supply across the district, ADC asked XENs of PDD and PHE to sensitize their ground level staff to ensure that hassle-free water and electricity supply is provided to the consumers.Emphasizing the need for pre and post sanitation drives, ADC directed concerned to intensify cleanliness drive in the district with a focus on roads, lanes, drains and regular lifting of wastage from markets. Besides he asked the Municipal Authorities to work in double shifts.The ADC also asked the concerned to install new and repair defunct streetlights and high mast lights at Mosques, prominent Shrines and Imam Baras of the district.Further, ADC directed the concerned to ensure plying of public transport during evening times in all towns for the commuters.
