Out with a message, Navjot Sidhu immerses new fishes into river Beas

Chooses same point where many fishes were found dead last month. Immersed around ten thousand fishes

Out with a strong message to save environment on ‘World Environment Day’, Punjab Cabinet Minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu on Tuesday immersed new fishes into River Beas, the same places where many fishes were found dead last month.Reaching the banks of Beas river with party workers, who held placards of ‘Save Rivers’, ‘save water’, ‘save nature’ and more such messages in hand, Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu soon took a boat to enter the river Beas.Accompanied by Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Kamaldeep Singh Sangha and MLA Baba Bakala Santokh Singh Bhalaipur, Sidhu immersed many small breeds of fishes in the river Beas. His boat went all around the river with placards in hands reading messages to save environment.The small breeds of fishes were in packets and the fishes were immersed in the Beas one by one.The Punjab Local Bodies, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister continued with slogans of saving the nature during his visit to the river Beas.Stressing that the message was to save environment and also create awareness in this regard, Punjab Minister Navjot Sidhu said, “Today their is an important need to have a better environment and also make people aware about this. Beas is a place where many fishes died last month. Though that loss cannot be fulfilled but by immersing new fresh breed of fishes we have tried to do some effort. I also promise that this effort will continue as the water is clean now.”It is just a start of an initiative. Today we have immersed around ten thousand fishes in the river Beas and this process will continue, he added.

Sidhu further said that under the guidance of Punjab Chief Minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh ‘Tandrust Punjab’ was being launched that also aims at providing better health, clean environment, safe drinking water and other elements.“Today I have come here at the banks of river Beas to not only do a little effort but also motivate others. I would appeal everyone to come forward and play role in making our environment clean. A cleaner environment can give a better and healthy life, added Sidhu.Sidhu further stressed that today is the need to keep our rivers clean. With garbage or other material such as plastic going in the river, can create damage not only to fishes but also human lives. It is urgent need to ensure clean water for better health too, he mentioned.The Punjab Minister who lauded the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh also said that today environment is one issue that needs urgent attention and the Punjab Government led by CM Capt. Amarinder Singh is committed on this.The Minister also lauded the effort of Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Kamaldeep Singh Sangha for taking various initiatives in the field of environment.The Party workers who stood on the banks of river beas had placards in hand and continuously raised slogans in the favour of better environment and clean waters.
