At all India Sports Federation Award Ceremony, 2018, organised by Grappling Federation of India and Drop Roball Federation of India, at New Delhi today Governor of H.P. Acharya Devvart disclosed that a Sports Academy will be established in Himachal Pradesh for talented and deprived children so that the talent of India in Sports could be used, for raising grandeur to the nation in the world of sports.He said that the Academy would be established in public-private partnership made with combined efforts of sportsmen, NGOs and the State government. The Academy would take shape soon as process of identifying suitable land has already begun in the State. He asked the office bearers of all 36 federations present on the occasion to launch talent hunt programme in the country so that best sports persons could be prepared in the State of Himachal for the entire Country.
He said it was necessary that the energy of youths was channelized for nation building activities. He commended efforts of coaches who guided and turned youth into best sports persons especially in Haryana.He lauded contributions of Chaudhary Sampurn Singh and Raj Kumar Verma for their contribution in social activities and now for sports academy.As many as, 100 office bearers of 36 sports federations, of the Country participated in the function.Davinder Dhull, Director Sports M.D. University Rohtak said Haryana has been continuously providing best sports persons in the Country and Rohtak has always taken lead with maximum number of Arjun Awardees.Jai Parkash, President Grappling Federation of India, Ishwar Singh Founder Drop Roball Federation of India, Raj Kumar V.C. M.D. University Dr. Vijender Punia, Advisor to Governor Dr. Shashikant Sharma were also present on the occasion.
