In order to extend helping hand to the specially abled persons in Ludhiana, camps will start from June 4 to 14 in all legislative constituencies of the district.In these camps, the wheelchairs, tricycles, hearing aid, speaking devices, artificial limbs and other things will be distributed among them at free of cost.Member of Parliament (MP) Ravneet Singh Bittu who on Sunday visited the various places where camps are being organized said that experts of Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) will come and prepare a list of things after assessing the extent the need of such-people who will take part in the camps and all these things will be given to them within three months.MP said Punjab's social security, women and child development department is an executive agency of these camps.Bittu also added that under the assistance of special abled persons for purchasing, fitting of aids, appliances (ADIP) scheme of the union government, cards will also be issued to them.
Revealing about the schedule of the camps, he said that on June 4, camp will be held at Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar Sahib-Ward No-37 (Ludhiana South Constituency), on June 5 in United Cycles Parts Palace, Gill road (Atam Nagar constituency) on June 6 in Modal Gram Community Centre, Kochar Market (Ludhiana west), on June 7 in King Palace, Basti Jodhewal (Ludhiana Central), on June 8 in Ludhiana North, on May 11 in GLADA community centre (Ludhiana East), on June 12 in Gill Gardren Resorts (Gill Constituency), on June 13 in Dr. Ambedkar Bhawan (Dakha Constituency) and the last camp will be held in Vimal Muni Hall, Sadar Market, Jagraon on June 14 in Jagraon constituency.Meanwhile, he asked all MLAs, Councillors, political leaders, officials, to embark on a special awareness campaign in the district to apprise the people about this exercise so that they could avail the benefit of this drive.Exhorting the people to take full benefits of these camps, he said that any person from the district could come to this camp and added that this would give much-needed relief to the needy people.
