Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing an impressive public meeting at the historic Chowgan in Chamba today said ‘Jan Manch’ Programme launched by the State Government would ensure effective redressal of grievances of the masses at their doorsteps. He said that Himachal Pradesh ‘Grihini Suvidha Yojana’ has been launched in the State for providing gas connection to all the left out households of the State. He said that State has immense tourism potential and for tapping the tourism potential in the State, new schemes have been launched by the State Government. He said that the State Government has completed five months in office and this tenure has witnessed some major milestones and new initiatives in the State. He said that the people of the State have given a massive mandate to the BJP, which has increased the responsibility of the Government to work with commitment and dedication for coming upto the expectations of the people of the State.The Chief Minister said that active cooperation and support of the people was solicited for development of each part of the State. He thanked the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and BJP National President Shri Amit Shah for entrusting the responsibility of heading the State. He said that in the very first cabinet meeting of the present State Government, the age limit of old persons for getting old age pension without income limit has been reduced from 80 years to 70 years. This decision has benefitted about 1.30 lakh senior citizens of the State and Rs 200 crore would be spent annually on it, he added.

Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government would not work with attitude of vengeance and victimization, but the Government would ensure that the guilty would not the spared. He said that the present Government was ensuring equitable development of the State, with special preference to those areas which remained neglected. He said that he has witnessed presentation of 20 budgets in the State Vidhan Sabha as member of the House, but it was for the first time that 21st Budget presented by him has 30 new schemes, which was a record in itself.He said that the Union Government has sanctioned 69 National Highways for the State, but the previous State Government did nothing in the direction. Only outsourcing tenders in respect of 3 DPR were given during their tenure, he added. He said that today 21 states in the country have government of BJP and its allies, which speaks of the popularity of the Union Government.Later, he laid foundation stone of office cum residence for CID at Police Line Chamba at Bargah, to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.62 crore, of improvement and widening of crash barrier and metalling tarring of Chamba- Jhumar road  to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.99 crore and of metalling at tarring of Luddu Bat road to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 5.03 crore.Several social, political, and political associations honoured the Chief Minister on the occasion.Chief Minister also released a book written by Shri Dharam Malhotra on history and culture of Chamba.

Announcements:

1.     Upgradation of 20 bedded Ayurvedic hospital Chamba to 50 bedded hospital

2.     Rs 20 lakh for beautification of Chamba town. Later the beautification work would be posed for funding to ADB.

3.     Sewerage scheme for Sultanpur

4.     Sanskrit College Chamba would be taken over by the Government after completing all formalities.

Senior BJP leader Member of Parliament Shri Shanta Kumar also welcomed the Chief Minister to his Parliamentary Constituency.  He said that something new happened in the politics of the State as State got a young leadership as Shri Jai Ram Thakur. He said that the Chief Minister knows the pain, expectations and needs of the poor as he himself was from a humble background. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given a new direction to the developmental need of the Country. He said that vision of New India was being fulfilled under the visionary leadership of Shri Modi. He said that with BJP at Centre as well as the State was poised to give new momentum to the pace of development. He said that Chamba district has been declared as the backward district of the country among other 124 districts of the country to accelerate the pace of development in the district. He said that Passport office would be opened soon in Chamba.

MLA Chamba Shri Pawan Nayar while welcoming the Chief Minister to his home constituency thanked the Chief Minister for according special preference to Chamba constituency in matter of development. He said that the previous State Government completely ignored Chamba assembly constituency in matter of development. He also detailed various developmental demands of his area. He also urged the Chef Minister for sympathetically considering developmental demands of Chamba.Mandal BJP President Shri Vinod welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion.Minority Morcha BJP Chamba Mandal President Yakub felicitated the Chief Minister.Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Kishan Kapoor, MLA Bharmour Shri Jai Lal, MLA Nachan Shri Vinod Kumar, MLA Bhatiyat Shri Bikram Jaryal former Minister Shri Mohan Lal, Chairperson Nagar Parishad Chamba Smt. Neelam Nayar, DC and SP Chamba were present on the occasion among others.
