Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur presided over the meeting of senior officers held here today to review the supply of adequate drinking water to Shimla. He was apprised about the water supply situation and its distribution by the officers in the meeting.Chief Minister was apprised in the meeting that MC Shimla received 21.75 MLD water today which was distributed according to the schedule released yesterday. Water was supplied to Bharari, Ruldu Bhatta, Kaithu, Anadale, Summer hill, Totu, Manjhiyat, Kachhi Ghati, Boleauganj, Tutikandi, Kanlog, Nabha and Fagli today. 2.25 lakh litre water was distributed through 27 tankers which were pressed into service to provide water at 63 points in the city.Chief Minister was apprised that water would be supplied to Krishna nagar, Ram Bazzar, Lower Bazzar, Jakhu, Benmore, Engine Ghar, Sanjauli chowk, Dhalli and Mashobra, Bhattakufar and Shanti Vihar, Malyana and Sangti areas tomorrow. Chief Minister also reviewed the current condition of various water supply schemes of entire state. The officers apprised that there were 9590 drinking water supply schemes in the State out of which 350 were critically affected, 1131 mildly affected. They informed that 11 places were identified in Shimla city for installing handpumps and work has been started.Chief Minister said that State Government was serious about providing water supply to the residents of Shimla and efforts were being made for the same. He directed the officers of IPH department to take proper action to ensure water supply.Shri Mahender Singh Thakur, IPH Minister said that 14 MLD water would be lifted from Gumma pumping station per day instead of 11 MLD at present Chief Secretary Shri Vineet Chawdhry, Additional Chief Secretary–cum- Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Dr. Shrikant Baldi, Secretary IPH Shri Devesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Shimla Shri Amit Kashyap, Director Information & Public Relations Shri Anupam Kashyap, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Shimla Shri Rohit Jamwal and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
