Irrigation and Public Health Minister Mahender Singh Thakur along with senior officers of the department today visited various areas of Shimla early morning between 7 am to 12 noon to take stock of the situation and to check whether proper water supply was being ensured. He visited Kasumpti, Sector 4 of New Shimla and walked from DAV School to BCS while meeting the residents.During the inspection, The Minister found out one case of water leakage between Kasumpti water storage tank to PWD tank. He immediately ordered to take action against the JE and directed the PWD to plug the leakage. While taking serious note of an overflowing tank in Sector 2, he directed to disconnect the connection. He also directed to disconnect those connections which were being misused or water being used for construction purposes. He also directed the engineers to be present in the field to monitor the water supply.He directed the hydrologist to install handpumps in all the identified places immediately. He said that the orders of Chief Minister were being carried out for ensuring proper water supply, tankers were also pressed in service.The Minister will take stock of the situation tomorrow and day after tomorrow also by visiting various areas and will also take review meetings. He said that most of the water sources had dried up which is causing water shortage.Secretary IPH Sh Devesh Kumar, Engineer-in-Chief Shri Suman Vikrant, Superintending Engineer Shri Dharmendra Gill, Executive Engineer Shri Rajesh Kashyap, Officers of district administration, MC and Police department accompanied the Minister.
