The Bharatiya Janata Party’s MP candidate for Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat, Kirron Kher spent the day in carrying out road-shows, public rallies, and press conferences. She began her poll campaign from Ramdarbar by carrying out a colourful road show. Then she reached at Community Centre of sector 21 where the MP candidate participated in a debate session organized for Chandigarh senior citizens’ Association. The Association’s chairman, Maj Gen (retd.), J S Bhullar apprised the panel with the problems being faced by the senior citizens. He also highlighted the demands like introducing healthcare policy, Old-age pension, rebate in taxes, and fast-track court in the city.
While sharing her vision, Kirron Kher said, “In our Indian tradition, we seek blessings from our elders to begin a new project. We should not forget the contributions made by senior citizens. The government should pay attention to their needs and should come up with better schemes for them. If the BJP is voted to power then I assure you that the party will bring many policies for the welfare of old people”. The BJP’s state President, Sanjay Tandon too reached at the session. In the afternoon, Kirron Kher went to meet government employees at sector 17, Plaza. She was accompanied by the President, Shiromani Akali Dal, Chandigarh, Jagit Singh Gora Kang. The employees highlighted their demands like regularization, change in tax-exemption slabs, implementation of new pay commission and pension scheme.
While addressing the employees, Kirron Kher said, “I am ready to solve the issues being faced by you but you have to support me to strengthen my stand. I am taking note of all the problems and if the BJP comes into the power then these issues would be resolved on the priority basis.” Jagjit Singh Kang also assured that BJP would resolve the problem of housing and everybody would get his own house.In another public meeting, the large number of vegetable-sellers from the ‘Bijwada Sabzi Mandi’, sector 22 gave a welcoming response to Kirron Kher and pledged their support to the BJP. Afterwards, Kirron Kher reached at CII, sector 31 to participate in an interactive session.Later on the MP candidate reached sector 25 and also went to sector 20 to address public meetings. The state president, Sanjay Tandon, former union minister, Harmohan Dhawan and senior leader of BJP, Satya Pal Jain too reached here for canvassing.
While addressing the gathering in sector 20, Sanjay Tandon said, “The UPA government has given birth to many problems like price rise, economic crisis, corruption, scams, insecurity at the borders in India. The whole country is vying for a change the political system. The BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi is the flavour of the season”. He appealed to the people to support Kirron Kher.After this, Kirron carried out ‘Padyatras’ in sector 7 and sector 8. Besides, she addressed a public meeting in sector 28. She also carried out a road in sector 37.
