Governor Acharya Devvrat said that inculcating humanitarian values and imparting knowledge about ethics to the children was the moral duty of parents and teachers. Children should learn to respect elders and grow up as disciplined individuals, he added.Governor was addressing as Chief Guest on the occasion of Nasha Niwaran function organized by ' Sambhav Sanstha' at Government Senior Secondary School Kunihar in district Solan today.Governor said that drug abuse was one of the major problems of society and every person needed to reflect on this seriously. He said that drug addiction was affecting the younger generation the most. Addiction affects a person physically, mentally and economically also the entire family suffers, he added. He said that such persons are not respected in the society and easily fall prey to criminal activities.  He said that adolescence was the age to be lived wisely.Acharya Devvrat said that parents should spend more and more time with their children and be friendly with them to protect them from falling into bad company and going astray. He said that adolescents could walk on right path by keeping themselves in the company of parents and following the guidance and teachings of teachers.

He urged the children to read the biographies of Former President of India Dr. Abdul Kalam and other great personalities. He said that one could find his destiny in right perspective if maximum hard work is put in adolescence. He said that children were the wealth of the nation and they needed to be saved from evil of addiction. He said that drug addiction was a problem which led to many other problems like poverty, criminal activities, domestic violence and disputes leading to disintegration of families, he added.Governor also spoke about Zero Budget Natural Farming besides 'Beti Padhao-Beti Bachao' and Sanitation Campaigns on this occasion.Earlier, the Governor participated in the plantation programme of Forest Department by planting a sapling of 'Jamun' at Shiva Goofa complex. He also planted a sapling of 'Jamun' in the school campus.Later, he distributed prizes to the students of various schools of Kunihar who excelled in educational and other co-curricular activities. He also gave awards to the progressive farmers practising organic farming.Principal Jagdish Negi welcomed the Governor whereas President of Sambhav Sanstha, Kaushlya Kanwar presented vote of thanks. Local Gram Panchayat Pradhan Sunita Thakur, Representatives of PRIs, Officers of district administration and various departments and large number of students of various schools of Kunihar Block were present.
