The Congress-led Punjab government is committed for the welfare of people from all sections of the society. Under an initiative of the state government, a pension scheme is going on which covers elderly people, widows, orphans and physically challenged and these persons are given monthly pension by the Punjab government.Under this pension scheme, 50563 elderly people, widows, orphans and physically challenged from Rupnagar district are given a monthly pension of Rs 750. After December 2017 onwards, pension amount is being deposited in the bank accounts of all beneficiaries on regular basis every month.This was informed by Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Mrs Gurneet Tej while chairing a meeting regarding schemes of Social Security Department. She informed that pension amount of all months till March 2018 has already been deposited in the bank accounts of all beneficiaries and the pension amount of April 2018 would be deposited soon. She said that if any beneficiary has not received the pension amount in their bank accounts yet, then they can contact the office of District Social Security Officer, here.
During the meeting, Mrs Santosh Virdi, District Social Security Officer, informed that all 50563 beneficiaries of the district would soon get their pension of Rs 3.79 crore for the month of April 2018 soon. She said that if any beneficiary has not received the pension amount of March 2018 in their bank accounts yet, then they can contact her office on any working day. She further informed that last month, 477 new applications were received for enrolling them as beneficiaries, out of which 441 applications have been approved, while 36 were declined as they did not fulfil the conditions.Mrs Virdi informed that elderly people, widows, orphans and physically challenged are given pension/financial aid by the Punjab government on monthly basis. She said that if any person wants to apply for this scheme, they can get the application forms from all Suvidha Kendras and offices of Child Development and Project offices. She said that the beneficiaries can fill the forms and even get the forms uploaded from the Suvidha Kendras. The offline forms can be deposited in the office of concerned CDPO Office. And after receiving the forms, the CDPO office would sent them to office of District Social Security Officer for final approval.
