Persian scholars from Kashmir University Tuesday staged a protest demanding restoration of credibility and glory of age old Persian language.The Scholars who assembled here in Press Enclave Srinagar alleged that no measures are being taken up to restore the credibility of Persian language.The protesting Scholars expressed concern that a language used in the courts of great kings, offices, religious ceremonies are on the verge of extinction.It is good to see Sanskrit, Hindi and Bodhi Departments functioning in Kashmir University but unfortunately, in Jammu University, the departments of Arabic and Persian have not been introduced notwithstanding an Act has been passed in this regard,” Dr Mudasir told news agency CNS.He said this language ruled the roost not only in the Subcontinent but in Central Asia as well.The protesting scholars including Dr Wahid, Zahid Parwaz, Kounsar Jaafri, Sharaf-u-Nisa and Samina Amin reiterated that they will continue to protest till Persian language gets its real due.
