With an aim to develop Sidhwan Canal which is known as Lifeline of city 'a picnic spot', Food, Civil Supply, and Consumers Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Member of Parliament (MP) Ravneet Singh Bittu have taken new initiative and started seeking suggestions from the residents to make the it 'Unique Model Of Development in Punjab.Both Minister and MP held such meeting with the representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and announced to prepare a detailed project report on Saturday in Kochcar Market.Reiterating the commitment of Punjab government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to develop Ludhiana for having best Infrastructure, Ashu said that Sidwan Canal is lifeline of Ludhiana which is the industrial hub of the state, will be developed a picnic spot so that residents have destination for fun in the city and they can spend some time along with their families there.The cabinet minister exhorted the residents to come forward and give their valuable suggestions to them or district administration for a complete facelift of the canal and its surroundings.He disclosed in the first phase, various types of saplings will be planted around the canal's areas and Landscaping will be also done. 

Further, the facilities like boating, water games and floating restaurant will be provided, he said and added that LED lights will be installed which will attract the residents during nights.Further, the iron grills will also be given in the canal to stop the garbage and worship material which is being thrown by people in the canal, he told.He told that priests were also made aware of requested to advise devotees not to throw worship material into the canal by the authorities recently.Moreover, the facility of bank filtering is also part of the project so that the devotees who worship during Chatth Puja so that any non-degradable material or plastic do not get mixed in the water, the minister said.MP Ravneet Singh Bittu told that Punjab Government has also given preference to Ludhiana's development and upcoming four leisure valley in the city will make it beautiful.Bittu ensured the residents the problems of Jagraon and Pakhowal ROB will also be settled soon.On the occasion, MLA Sanjay Talwar, Mayor Balkar Sandhu, Councillors Mamta Ashu, Sunny Bhalla, Hari Singh, Neelam Sharma, Harjinder Singh Dhindsa and others were present.
