The Co-operation Minister, Punjab, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today in a review meeting of the department at Amritsar directed the officers of Punjab State Co-operative Agricultural Development Bank to go after the influential big time defaulters of the bank full throttle and initiate appropriate legal action without caring for the political pressure.The Co-operation Minister, in the presence of the Punjab State Co-operative Agricultural Development Bank MD Mr. Harinder Singh Sidhu carried out the district level review of the big time defaulters of the bank across the state. The minister said that he fully understands the plight of farmers as he himself hails from farming background. He further said that the bank also caters to the interests of farming community at village level. He instructed the officers to adopt professional approach towards banking sector and pay specialized attention towards the recovery aspect so as to improve the financial condition of the Punjab State Co-operative Agricultural Development bank.S. Randhawa also exhorted the farmers to ensure depositing their installments in time in order to enable the bank to extend loans to them again on cheaper interest rates. The minister further elaborated that the officers performing their duties well would be awarded the commendation certificates.
