The Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Punjab, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi today paid a courtesy call on the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Youth Affairs and Sports Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore at New Delhi and discussed the matters pertaining to the sprucing up of the sports Infrastructure in the state.Giving details of the visit, Rana Sodhi said that he emphatically put forward the case of Punjab for receiving maximum assistance from the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under various centrally sponsored schemes. He also pushed for according priority to Punjab in terms of allotting projects to the states under 'KHELO INDIA' plan. Rana Sodhi said that the Union Minister assured him regarding every possible assistance to Punjab for betterment of its sports infrastructure and allotment of central projects to the state aimed at welfare of the players.The Sports Minister, Punjab thanked the Union Minister for positive response with regard to the demands of the state. Both the ministers being former Trap shooters of international repute also recalled the days of respective sports careers and camaraderie. It is worth mentioning that Union Sports Minister Mr. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore won silver medal in the 2004 Athens Olympics while Rana Sodhi being the Trap Shooter of international level remained National Champion 5 times and was the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Awardee of the 1st batch.
