CPI (M) legislator Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami Thursday acknowledged that Kashmir is facing discrimination on all fronts. Tarigami lashed out at the Government for ignoring Kashmir and concentrating on the development of Jammu only. He told that it is irony that Jammu was given lion’s share of funds under the Central Road Fund (CRF) program.“It is sheer discrimination that out of Rs 109 crore approved for the state under CRF for 2013-14, Jammu has been allocated Rs 94 crore whereas Kashmir has got a meager Rs 15 crore,” he said adding that all the tall claims made by present government regarding the development on equal basis in all the regions of the State have proved hoax and prank.Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami said that whenever it comes to development, Kashmir is being ignored and all the funds are perted to Jammu. “We have countless examples how funds were perted from Kashmir to Jammu and how intentionally manipulation was done to deprive Kashmir region from its due share,” he said. People’s Democratic Party spokesperson Nayeem Akhtar told that this type of discrimination with Kashmir is not new but it has become a routine. “In 2012, Rs 48 crore meant for the development of Srinagar city were perted to outside Kashmir.
All the 8 members of Srinagar city belong to National Conference and nobody at that time protested,” he said adding that NC has lost its representative character and it is playing in the hands of Congress party. Akhtar further said that Roads and Building Ministry lies with Congress and they will do whatever they like while NC supports them. “Farooq Abdullah himself asserted that NC is part of the Congress which indicates that this party has lost its identity and it is an appendage of Congress,” he said. Third Front leader and Chairman National Democratic Front who has been invited by Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi said that this is disgusting on part of those who are at the helm of affairs to manipulate the proposal regarding the allocation of funds. “Kashmir in every respect is bigger region than Jammu and it is ridiculous to allocate only Rs 15 crore for it out of whooping Rs109 crore under Central Road Fund (CRF) program,” he said that the discrimination is the root cause of alienation. MLA Langate Engineer Rashid said that discrimination with Kashmir is happening since 1947 and nothing is new in it. “Every time Jammu gets lions share and still they are dissatisfied. Fault lies with the National Conference which is ruling the State with the help of Congress party and the job of Congress to develop Jammu at the cost of Kashmir,” he said adding that last year also Kashmir was given only 5 First Aid Centres while Jammu got 9.
