Reaffirming State Government’s commitment to provide hassle-free property registration services to the people, Mr. Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, Revenue Minister Punjab informed here today that 20 additional posts of Sub Registrars have been approved by the State Government. In order to provide respite to the public, senior and experienced Tehsildars would immediately be deputed at stations with heavy registration load. “To begin with, Ludhiana (East), Jalandhar (I) Amritsar, Patiala and Kharar would get an additional Sub Registrar each,” said he. The Revenue Minister further informed that the process of promotion of Naib Tehsildars to Tehsildars is in the pipeline and a requisition has also been sent to Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) for direct recruitment of Tehsildars against the vacant posts. These strengthening and streamlining initiatives would go a long way in easing out the workload thereby bringing greater efficiency in the department, said he.Continuous up gradation of knowledge and skills through a series of capacity building programs of all the officers of Revenue Department, in a phased manner, is already going on which will bring considerable improvement in the Service Delivery mechanism as well as the overall improvement in the functioning of Revenue Department, added Revenue Minister.
