Faculty development programme on cloud technology organised at CGC Landran

A Faculty Development Programme (FDP) covering the latest trends in could technology was organised by the department of Computer Science Engineering, Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran, in association with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate, a global initiative of Amazon to train the next generation of professionals in cloud computing. The programme’s objective was to update and train CGC’s faculty with the latest innovations and technological advancements in cloud-related concepts.The FDP was conducted as a part of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate program. AWS Educate is a grant based programme which provides students and educators with the resources required to augment cloud related learning and promotional credits for AWS services. The program will facilitate students and faculty from the institution to pursue AWS cloud career pathways and build skills in the latest cloud technologies. 

The students in addition to having free access to tools and content available on the platform would be able to use AWS Educate Job Board which includes cloud-related jobs at launch from Amazon and other established brands across the globe.Mr Samuel Harris, Programme Manager, APAC and Mr Amit Nevatia, Educate Program Lead, Amazon Internet Service Pvt. Ltd addressed these sessions. They interacted with faculty members training them on multiple aspects of cloud computing using presentations, multiple case studies and related practical exercises.Underlining the importance of such sessions Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC Landran said that they are useful in bridging the gap between industry and academia by keeping the faculty updated with the latest evolutions and trends in the technology sphere. Given the rapid pace at which technology is evolving, acquiring supplementary skills in this domain has become imperative, they added.
