A traders’ body, Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) Monday staged a protest demonstration at Abiguzar Srinagar against the “killing spree” in Kashmir.Scores of traders led by Federation president Muhammad Yasin Khan assembled at Abi Guzar Srinagar and held a demonstration against the killings of civilians in Kashmir Valley. The traders were carrying placards and banners denouncing civilian killings. While  talking to reporters, Muhammad Yasin Khan said that killing of a Professor is the answer to those who claim that youth take to arms or stone-pleting because they don’t have government jobs. “Kashmir is a political issue and it needs to be addressed as per the aspirations of people,” he said.He demanded the government to take cognizance of the situation prevalent here and stop killings forthwith. The traders tried to take out a march towards Civil Secretariat here. However, huge posse of government forces already deployed there prevented them from marching ahead.

Meanwhile, Kashmir Economic Alliance, another traders body also staged a protest against the unabated civilian killings. The traders headed by KEA, Co-Chairman Farooq Ahmed Dar assembled in Press Enclave and demanded action against those responsible for such killings.Kashmir Traders Federation Chief Spokesperson Ajaz Shahdhar told CNS that civilian killings force other youth to take to arms. He said youth are being pushed to wall and mercilessly killed while killers are not accountable before anybody. As the protesting traders tried to take out a march, police swung into action and detained them.
