Five deaths in Kashmir from evening to morning

Eight persons including were killed within a span of 12 hours in Kashmir Valley from Friday evening to Saturday morning.Suspected militants shot dead a cop in restive Pulwama district of South Kashmir.Reports said that gunmen emerged near fuel station at Rohmu village of the district early morning and fired upon a Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir police.A police official while confirming the incident said SPO, Showkat Ahmad Dar, son of Muhammad Ahsan Dar was immediately shifted to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.A police official said that a search and operation was launched shortly after the incident, however, no arrests were made.Meanwhile, suspected militants abducted two persons in Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district in the middle of the night and later on left their dead bodies near a mosque.Divulging information about the incident, a police official said that in the intervening night of 4/5 May 2018,  militants barged into the houses of Ghulam Hassan Dar (45) alias Hassan Rassa and Bashir Ahmad Dar (26), a Sumo driver by profession, both resided at Gulshan Mohalla, Shahgund Hajin. Militants abducted both of them.“At about 3:30 am on Saturday, militants shot both of them dead. The dead bodies were found by the locals near a mosque at Raheem Dar Mohalla, Shahgund, Hajin. Ghulam Hassan was the uncle of Bashir Ahmed.”

“Preliminary investigation suggests the involvement of militant outfit LeT in the incident, official said adding that a case into the incident is registered, and investigations taken up.Meanwhile, a civilian was killed after being allegedly run over by a Forces vehicle at Safakadal area of Srinagar city. CRPF however, denied the reports that the deceased youth was run over by their vehicle. A video of that incident has gone viral, prompting IGP Kashmir to say that action will follow against involved vehicle.Reports said that clashes erupted in Safakadal after the encounter between militants and government forces raged in Chattabal area of Srinagar city. Three militants were killed in that encounter.The deceased youth has been identified as Adil Ahmed Yadoo. Reports said that massive clashes are underway near encounter site and adjacent areas of Srinagar city.Giving details about the death of the civilian, a police official said: “one person identified as Adil Ahmed Yadoo was brought to SMHS Hospital whom doctors declared brought dead. Medical bulletin suggest that the person died due to crush injury in a road traffic accident at Noorbagh,” he said and asked citizens not to pay heed to rumours.Pertinently, suspected militants yesternight shot dead a man Muhammad Ashraf Mir while his wife Saima was also injured at Mirmohalla Harwan Sopore.
