The Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore today released the Red Cross Flag at Punjab Raj Bhavan. The Students of Rayat & Bahra University pinned a Flag on the Punjab Governor and other officers in a brief function held in Punjab Raj Bhavan.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Badnore advocated for further strengthening the Red Cross activities especially first aid training through massive collective efforts.He said that the Indian Red Cross Society has increased the reach of their programmes in a massive way. It has marked its presence increasingly felt in schools of nursing, homes for the elderly, in helping the Government to carry out its  health initiatives thereby contributing immensely to make India disease free, disaster response and preparedness, and education on positive attitude for children and youth, added Mr. Badnore.Mr. C.S.Talwar, IAS (Retd),  Secretary Red Cross, Punjab informed that in view of this year’s World Red Cross Day theme “Everywhere for everyone Smile", the State as well as District Red Cross Branches are organizing activities such as unveiling of Henry Dunant Statue, Red Cross flag hoisting, lighting of the lamp, messages/speeches revolving around the theme by sharing experiences depicting how Red Cross staff, volunteers and members brought smile on the faces of the distraught, needy and poor. Medical check-up camps will also be organized by all the District Red Cross Branches at District, Tehsil & Block level.
