Vigilance nabs PSPCL lineman taking bribe

State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption nabbed an Assistant Lineman of PSPCL posted at sub division Jhabal in Tarn Taran district red handed accepting bribe.Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Assistant Lineman Prabhjot Singh was arrested by a vigilance team while he was demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 23,000 from complainant Balveer Kaur of Jhabal in Tarn Taran district in lieu of not to register complaint against her for tempering the domestic electricity meter and theft of power. She also informed that the accused had already accepted Rs. 2000 as a first installment as the deal was struck at Rs. 25,000/-.Giving details he said after verifying her complaint, the VB team laid a trap and the accused was arrested on the spot and Rs. 23,000 was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against him at VB police station Amritsar and further investigation was under progress.
