DLSA holds National Lok Adalats at Kargil, Drass, Sankoo

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kargil today organized National Lok Adalats at District Court Complex Kargil besides Munsiff Court Drass and Sankoo. During the Lok Adalats 3 benches were constituted at each court premises forsettlement of cases and resolution of disputes. The bench constituted at District Court Complex was presided over by the Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Principal District & Session Judge Kargil, Sanjiv Kumar Bhagat.  Chief Judicial Magistrate Kargil Spalzes Angmo also participated in the bench.Despite adverse weather conditions people including litigants showed great enthusiasm and actively participated in the Lok Adalats for redressal of their grievances. A large number of cases requiring immediate and more urgent attention were disposed off besides resolution of disputes was also made on the spot to facilitate the litigants.During the daylong proceedings of the Lok Adalats, 107 cases were taken up for hearing out of which 79 were disposed off on spot. Moreover, an amount of Rs 770874 was also realized and deposited into Government Treasury. A case of MV Act was also settled in which the injured was compensated with Rs 1,10,000. 

A number of cases pertaining to Labour and Police Act as well as Minor Compoundable cases were also taken up for hearing. An amount of Rs. 6,43,774/= was awarded in favour of the petitioner in one of the cases relating to pre-litigation matter wherein the Executive Engineer Division 1st  undertook to pay the amount as soon as possible.Principal District and Session Judge Kargil said that District Legal Services Authority Kargil shall convene Lok Adalats in the inaccessible areas of the district in future so that the benefits of access to justice reach to people in a satisfactory manner. He also expressed his gratitude to the members of the Bar Association and the general public for their participation in the Lok Adalats.Meanwhile, the people while appreciating the efforts of DLSA Kargil in organizing the Lok Adalats have reaffirmed their confidence in the judicial system and requested for holding of similar sessions in the times to come so that the public at large is benefitted.President Bar Association Kargil Advocate Khadim Hussain and advocates of Bar Association Kargil, prominent citizens and a large number of people including litigants were present on the occasion.
