As part of the ongoing nationwide Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, Ujjwala Divas was celebrated at Ramban, here today.AD FCS&CA, G.R Lone, DGM, IOC, PamposhWatal and Manager IOC, Rakesh Tikku besides other officers were present on the occasion.MLA Ramban, Neelam Langeh and DDC Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganai distributed LPG connections among eligible women hailing from BPL and SC/ST families under the programme Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) a flagship scheme of the Union Government to provide clean cooking fuel to BPL women identified by the Indian Oil Corporation.Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that providing LPG connections to BPL households will ensure universal coverage of cooking gas in the country.He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narinder Modi for launching welfare schemes for betterment and upliftment of women, children, socially and financially backward masses.Speaking on the occasion DDC said that Ujjwala Diwas is being celebrated under the welfare scheme aims to empower women and improve their health by easing out the burden of cooking on wood and chulha besides creating awareness regarding the scheme.He informed that Village Sanasar of district Ramban has been declared smoke free.He also said that different programmes viz Social Justice Day, Swach Bharat Diwas,UjjwalaDivas,Rashtriya Panchayati Raj Diwas,Gram Swaraj Divas, Ayaushman Bharat Divas, Farmers Welfare Day and AajeevikaDivas being celebrated under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan campaign.Earlier District Nodal Officer Indian Oil Corporation Rakesh Tikku gave the detailed resume of programme.
