The maiden meeting of the House Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council constituted to look into certain issues of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) was convened here today under the Chairmanship of MLC, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone.The meeting was attended by the members of the panel Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Balbir Singh, Naresh Gupta, Showkat Hussain Ganai and G N Monga. They gave valuable suggestions with regard to the job entrusted to the panel.Threadbare discussion was held on the issues to be looked into by the panel with regard to the university. The chairman asked the SKUAST–J authorities to come up with a working paper pertaining to the varsity, Recruitment Policy in vogue, Details of Recruitments made during the last 10 years (teaching as well as non-teaching) permanent, temporary, contractual, consolidated basis, details of daily wagers engaged on contractual basis, casual, seasonal and consolidated basis for the last 10 years.The panel further asked the authorities to furnish details of purchases of all kinds made during the last 10 years, years-wise, present status of E-Studio and present status of mega seed unit, the report, if any, details and quantum of land acquired for SKUAST Chatta, Jammu, the details of amount available for the land acquisition and the amount disbursed and balance thereof, rate of land per kanal and the title of land, status of payment made to the mates who have executed department works in SKUAST in years 2005, 2006, 2007 and onwards, mode of allotment of works adopted for execution of department works, if any, employment provided to the land owners whose land has been acquired, if so, full details with name of such appointees and details of appointment of the then PRO to Ex-Vice Chancellor, SKUAST Jammu and the promotion granted to him from time to time.Vice Chancellor, SKUAST, Jammu Dr Pardeep Kumar Sharma, Registrar, SKUAST, Dr Daleep Kachroo briefed the committee regarding the issues in details.Among others the meeting was attended by Director Extension, Dr. K S Risam, Director Research, Dr. J.P. Sharma, Director Education, Dr Tasleem Ahmed, Controller SKUAST and other senior officers of SKUAST, besides Special Secretary, Legislative Council, Mohammad Ashraf Wani, Additional Secretary, Nazir Ahmed Moon and other officials.
