Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Sajad Hussain Ganie today flagged off the "Swachhta Rath" rally here from the premises of DC Office Complex.The programme was attended ADC, ACD, DPO, CEO and other District Officers. Under Swaraj Gram Abhiyan a three-week long programme under which different activities are being carried out in the rural areas to mark the contribution of B.R Ambedkar for social upliftment of vulnerable sections of society. Under Swaraj Gram Abhiyan, April 18 would be observed as cleanliness day by carrying different activities of Swachhta. The said rally will visit 31 villages of low performance in sanitation and cleanliness. Similar rallies are being carried out in designated schools for Swachhta Abhiyan in the entire district. It is pertinent to mention that RDD Kulgam has recently declared 16 villages as Open Defecation Free. The DDC was apprised by DPO that as many as 37000 toilets under SBM were constructed by the beneficiaries till date and the remaining 16000 will be completed within next two months.
