Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the Suketi Fossil Park in Sirmour district would be developed by the Tourism department through ADB assistance. The State government was also open to any private investment for development of this park, he said.He was addressing a public meeting after visiting the museum and Fossil Park at Nagal Suketi. He said that this Park was an initiative of the first Chief Minister of the State Dr Y.S. Parmar and it was the first Fossil park in Asia. This Park would be developed from the tourism point view and all possible help would be provided for this by the state government.Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that the road leading toward the Fossil Park would be strengthened at the earliest to facilitate the tourists visiting the park.He said that all efforts would be made to provide more water supply schemes for the area. He sanctioned one tube well for Suketi village. He said that matter regarding opening of ESI hospital at Kala Amb would be taken up with the Union Government. He announced preparing of detailed project report for channelization of Markandey river.The Chief Minister said the State Government had just completed 100 days in office and he was satisfied with the achievements of the government. The budget presented by the State government had 30 new schemes for the welfare of the people of the State and adequate provision of budget had been made for all schemes.He said the sole objective of the State government was to ensure development and welfare of each and every section of the society. He said that cooperation of each one was required to make New India. He also urged the people to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Shri Narinder Modi in the 2019 elections.The Chief Minister also participated in 'Swatchta Abhyan' of Kala Amb panchayat and SADA area.
Earlier, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones of Fire Post building Kala Amb to be constructed at a cost of Rs 3.80 crore and strengthening of Trilokpur-Kala Amb-Suketi Bikram Bag Road at Suketi to be strengthened at a cost of Rs. 10.74 crore.Speaker, H.P Vidhan Sabha Dr. Rajiv Bindal said that the Fossil Park was emerging as the big tourist attraction for the tourists from different parts of the country. He said that the road leading to the Park need to be strengthened and thanked the Chief Minister for early completion of the Trilokpur-Kala Amb-Suketi Bikram Bag Road at Suketi.Dr Bindal also thanked the Chief Minister for providing about Rs 11 crore for strengthening of the road leading to the fossil park. He said Markenday river plays havoc during the rainy season and urged for channelization and construction of dam on the river. He also urged the Chief Minister to provide adequate drinking water facilities to the people of the Kala Amb panchayat and opening of ESI Hospital at Kala Amb.Director of the Park Dr Ratish Chandel gave a power point presentation regarding the Fossil Park. He informed that over 1500 people, researchers and those interested in evolution of life visit the park daily.Urban Development Minister Smt. Sarveen Chaudhary, MLA Shri Suresh Kashyap, BJP leader Shri Baldev Tomar, BJP leaders Shri Chander Mohan Thakur and Baldev Bhandhari, OSD to Chief Minister Shri Shishu Dharma were present on the occasion among others.
