Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President and Lok Sabha MP Sunil Jakhar today dared the newly appointed State President of BJP Mr. Shwait Malik to list even promise fulfilled by Modi government before commenting on the state government.Mr Jakhar unequivocally said that the new state BJP President must study the performance of NDA government led by his own party at center which is in 5th year of its tenure, before commenting on the performance of the Punjab government.Mr. Jakhar said in a press release here today that before issuing such an irresponsible statement about the state government Mr. Malik should have reviewed the performance of Modi Government. Mr. Jakhar said that when the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh's government took over in the year 2017, the economy of the state was in worse condition due to decade long misrule of SAD-BJP alliance during which there was no rule of law in the state and there was no money in the treasury. But the Congress government has not only made successful efforts to bail out Punjab from economic crisis in its last one year but also to fulfill its election promises. Mr. Jakhar said that the Punjab Government has implemented the scheme of debt waiver for farmers in an effective and step-wise manner and now loans up to 50 thousand of SC/BC community has also decided to waive off by state government. He said that so far the state government has fulfilled more than 125 poll promises and the state government is firmly working to fulfill every election promise made by it to the people of state.
Mr. Jakhar asked the BJP state president that it will be better if he would also see the report card of the Union government before issuing such a statement about the state government. Mr. Jakhar said that before the formation of government at the center, the BJP had promised to provide 20 million jobs every year to the youth but the central government could not do so. Similarly, the government has run away from the promise of implementing Swaminathan report for farmers. He said that 36,000 farmers have committed suicide during the last 3 years while the Prime Minister is showing the dreams of 2022 to the peasantry. Mr. Jakhar said that the violence against minorities and SCST is the only the achievement of the Modi government and in BJP regime people have fled with money of banks from the country thereby making a heavy dent in taxpayers money.Mr. Jakhar said that the Congress government of Punjab believes in work and due to the performance of the state government, people of the state have given a mandate in favor it during Gurdaspur elections and local government’s elections held during last year. He said that in 2019 the truth of the so called Modi magic will be exposed soon as countrymen were eagerly waiting to oust this corrupt, tyrannical and inefficient government in ensuing general elections. He said that while Captain Government has delivered every promise made to people, the Modi government would go into annals of Indian political history as a government that befooled the people through mere lip service.
