Authorities barred Syed Ali Geelani from offering Friday prayers by not allowing him to venture out of his Hyderpora house, Hurriyat Conference (G) said today.A spokesperson of Hurriyat (G) in a statement issued to GNS said large contingents of police and CRPF were deployed on main roads leading to the residence of Syed Ali Geelani and no one was allowed to move out of Hurriyat office. He said as Geelani moved towards Lal Chowk to offer Friday prayers, he was prevented by a heavy contingent of police from doing so.Lashing out at authorities, the spokesperson said that police chief in his statement had stated that Geelani is ‘Azad’ now but the continuous curbs on his movement proved that they are relying on false propaganda and their tall claims stand deflated.Meanwhile, Geelani in a statement issued to GNS said the government was preventing the resistance leaders to stage peaceful protests. “It tantamount to interference in religious matters,” he said and appealed international community to raise voice against “massacre” of civilians in Kashmir.“More than twenty were brutally killed and hundreds maimed in pellet firing,” said Geelani, adding, “How long Kashmir people, youth should especially be made direct target by force personnel.

The world community should take serious cognizance of unending killings in the state.”Geelani said Kashmiris will continue with their struggle till freedom is achieved. He said the sacrifices of youth won’t go waste and nobody will be allowed to play with their sacrifices, adding that “we will never surrender or succumb to pressure but will pursue our cherished mission till it is taken to its logical conclusion”.“We, with a sincere heart, want to convey that we are yearning for peace and seek a peaceful resolution to the long- pending Kashmir issue. India needs to fulfill its promise of giving Kashmiris their right to self-determination to choose their future,” Geelani said.“We want to remind Indian authorities that we are not demanding any part of India be separated but Jammu & Kashmir is a disputed territory which needs a resolution in accordance with resolutions presented by India itself before UN on January 1948,” Hurriyat (G) chairman added.Meanwhile, Syed Ali Geelani and Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in a joint condolence message expressed their deep grief over the demise of mother of Hizb ul-Mujahideen leader Imtiyaz Aalam and prayed for departed soul and forbearance to the grieved family to bear the irreparable loss.Hurriyat (G) also strongly condemned the arrest of its executive member Nisar Husain Rather.“Rather was arrested outside the Hurriyat office Hyderpora today and shifted to an unknown destination,” Hurriyat (G) said.
